John Outlaw’s family cabin was built in the 1850s on the Silas Reynolds property approximately 0.5 miles south of Prairie Street and 1 mile east of Route 47. According to the 1871 Map of Sugar Grove Township from the Atlas of Kane County, the cabin site might have been close to the area denoted as “Maple Grove” on the map. In November of 2005, an archeological dig was conducted at the cabin site. Among those who attended were J. Eric Deetz, Pat Paxton, Bob O'Neall, Suzanne Weimer, Ruth Frantz, Dick Paxton, and Jason Rugg. In August of 1919, the AE&C went into receivership, both divisions emerging from bankruptcy in the early 1920's. They were separated and renamed.
